About the Author
Janet Irene Atkinson, a native southern Californian, attended
U.C.L.A. and Cal State Northridge with degrees in Art History
and History. She has taught classes in Art History, California
History and Humanities at Cal Slate L.A., Glendale College,
Pierce College, Columbia College, and Cal State Stanislaus.

She wrote Los Angeles County Historic Directory' in 1988;
followed by
Gold Rush Tales in 1997; Colorful Men and Women
of the Mother Lode
in 2002 with a second printing in 2004. Colorful
Men, Women & Tales of the Mother Lode
followed in 2006. Janet has
written for the
Society of Architectural Historians. Los Angeles
magazine,
Elan magazine, Treasure, Chispa Historians
Quarterly
. Central Sierra Seasons magazine and more. Jan
was selected by the Sacramento Public Library for
Authors

2004-05. She appeared on Jackson television
TSPN in 2006. Ms. Atkinson has given talks to clubs, organizations,
and many historical societies throughout California.

This is the story of a 14 year old girl's dream to become an
airline pilot. As she writes in her journal, "I felt like whipping the
wind." When Sari began taking lessons in flying she realizes that
there were no women flying for the major airlines
